Agora Journalism Center Faculty Innovation Fellows

The Faculty Innovation Fellows program supports School of Journalism and Communication faculty in pursuing innovative, high-impact research and creative projects that will advance journalism, communication and civic engagement; enhance students’ learning experiences; and increase SOJC contributions to the significant body knowledge created by the University of Oregon and shared with the world.

Cascadia Cleantech Prize

The Cascadia CleanTech Prize invites top cleantech startups to compete for prize packages totaling $10,000 in non-dilutive funding, in-kind services and exposure in front of top Pacific Northwest industry leaders and investors. The competition takes place during Oregon BEST FEST. Companies compete in three categories: Accelerator Stage, Launch Stage, and Growth Stage.

Cleantech Challenge

The Cleantech Challenge is an innovation competition for campus cleantech innovators and entrepreneurs across the state. Undergraduates, graduates, postdocs and faculty from Oregon colleges and community colleges are invited to compete for $50,000 in grants and prizes.

i6 Challenge

The i6 Challenge is a multi-agency competition led by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The i6 Challenge encourages universities and research centers to create proof-of-concept centers that identify innovations to commercialize and help them to put together the building blocks to create high growth, successful companies, including business model support, access to investors, mentors and access to potential customers.

The InnovateHER Challenge is a national prize competition aimed at unearthing products and services that impact and empower the lives of women and families. InnovateHER begins with local business competitions that culminate in a live pitch Final Round on the national stage.

The Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies Institute is where academia, business and government come together to accelerate research and bring breakthrough ideas to market. ONAMI provides entrepreneurs with access to early-stage funding and mentoring by industry experts.

Oregon Angel Fund

Oregon Angel Fund is a venture capital fund that brings together business and technology leaders for the benefit of local entrepreneurs. Each year, OAF invests $100,000 to $2 million each in about half-a-dozen highly-scalable businesses.

Oregon BEST builds capability, convenes collaborations, and accelerates the solutions to environmental challenges that deliver prosperity in all corners of Oregon. The Oregon BEST Early-Stage Investments program provides up to $250,000 to fund collaborative Research & Development projects conducted by a small company in partnership with a university researcher or lab.

The Hatch program is integrated with other NEDCO services to  produce long-term success for Lane County’s dynamic general and food industry businesses.

Oregon Incubator Program

The Oregon Incubator Program is a unique program hosted by the UO Duck Store and designed to provide new entrepreneurs and businesses with the resources to bring an idea from concept to reality. The program consists of training courses focusing on topics ranging from collegiate licensing to pricing strategy. Then, following completion of the program, the Duck Store purchases the participants’ products to be sold at Duck Store locations throughout Oregon and online at UODuckStore.com.
